Lose Weight and Feel Full with the Paleo Diet

The Paleo Diet

The Paleo Diet is an eating regimen that supports an alternative diet that is rich in proteins and low on carbohydrates. The diet is sometimes referred to as the caveman diet, because it advocates the consumption of food that would have been nutritionally recognizable to Paleolithic man. Their diet consisted of meat, seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables which are the components of this diet.

Since the release of the Paleo Diet users, have been able to lose weight dramatically with this healthy way of eating. The premise of the diet is the idea that starvation will not increase weight loss but rather replacing fatty sources of energy with a healthy alternative that is satiating and supplies the nutrition that is needed to remain active.

Paleo diets are not strictly meat-based. Meals and meal plans that conform to the diet have healthy portions of meat coupled with vegetables or fruits and healthy snacking on nuts, seeds, fruits or vegetables are encouraged.

The Paleo Diet is not a trend it is a lifestyle choice the shifts away from starvation diets and more towards a diet that was able to sustain human ancestors who were not only healthy, but strong and lived very active lives.

How Does the Paleo Diet Cause Weight Loss?

The high protein content of the Paleo Diet has many beneficial effects. Because the meal is heavy in fats and protein, it results in dieters experiencing a feeling of a fullness way in advance of finishing a meal. This means that even though high protein foods are ‘fatty', because you are consuming less food overall there is dramatic weight loss. A high protein diet also does not impart a sluggish and tired feeling as one would experience on a high carbohydrate, low fat diet.

Conventional diets consist of high daily intake of carbohydrates that include grains and starches. Carbohydrates are often over consumed and rarely utilized in their entirety, unused carbohydrates are stored as fat. A major component of the Paleo Diet is healthy fats from nuts, oils (coconut, olive, avocado, and walnut), vegetables, and lean proteins.

Protein is a secondary energy storage molecule, and the majority of which is broken down to produce essential amino acid and the rest goes to produce energy for the body to function. Dieters are able to shed pounds through decreased consumption of fatty starches and replace those starches with protein that is not stored in the body as fat.

The Paleo Diet is Highly Nutritious

Many people have the misconception that by removing carbohydrates from the diet and allowing the body to sustain itself using protein is robbing the body of vital nutrients. Living a Paleo lifestyle is very healthy. Many people who suffer from disease and disorders find these tend to lessen as one continues to eat Paleo and cut out flours, pastas, rice, potatoes, and other processed foods.

The Paleo Diet will supply Omega-3 nutrients, natural sugars, fiber, vitamins, and carbohydrates and oils in minute quantities. Therefore, the Paleo Diet is a healthy way of shedding all that extra weight from stored carbohydrates without sacrificing your nutritional health.

The Paleo Diet is one of the most filling diets that can be found, and it is that feeling of fullness that leads to healthy eating habits and weight loss. Food that is consumed for the purpose of nutrition; overeating is not likely to happen limiting weight gain and allowing dieters to shed pounds without feeling starved or hungry. One of the main premises of the diet is to eat when you are hungry.

I have just began this diet and am almost two weeks in and I feel better already. I have learned a lot about autoimmune disorders, and how eating Paleo helps with these, I will be sharing posts about my progress and tips on how to keep your sweet tooth satisfied.
